This project is read-only.

All Glimpse documentation is available on the Glimpse web site:

Using Glimpse (CodePlex distribution)

  1. Download Glimpse.Core.dll, and Glimpse.Mvc3.dll if you are using Glimpse in an MVC3 project.
  2. Add references from your main web project to Glimpse.Core.dll and Glimpse.Mvc3.dll if your site is an MVC3 site.
  3. Edit your site's web.config to include the following nodes:

            <section name="glimpse" type="Glimpse.Core.Configuration.GlimpseConfiguration" />
        <glimpse enabled="true"/>

  4. If you are using IIS7/IIS Express, you can register the Glimpse HttpModule and HttpHandler by adding these nodes:

                <add name="Glimpse" type="Glimpse.Core.Module,Glimpse.Core" preCondition="integratedMode"/>
                <add name="Glimpse" path="glimpse.axd" verb="GET,POST" type="Glimpse.Core.Handler,Glimpse.Core"  preCondition="integratedMode" />

  5. If you are not using IIS7 (for example if you are using IIS6 or the web server built into Visual Studio) you can instead register Glimpse's HttpModule and HttpHandler by adding these nodes to your web.config:

                <add name="Glimpse" type="Glimpse.Core.Module"/>
                <add path="glimpse.axd" verb="GET,POST" type="Glimpse.Core.Handler"/>

  6. Finally, add this last node:

            <trace writeToDiagnosticsTrace="true" enabled="true" pageOutput="false"/>

  7. Run your site and browse to https://yoursite/Glimpse.axd and press the big "Turn Glimpse On" button.
  8. From now on you should see the little Glimpse icon in the lower right hand corner of pages in your website!

Remember, the Glimpse NuGet package handles all of these steps for you automatically!
